DMN storiesKudos to the Morning News for the two stories in today's paper. Damn good story about what SMU needs to do next, and a secondary story about former AD Russ Potts' thoughts on how to increase attendance. Be sure to go to the www.PonyFans.com home page and read both stories. Nice job by DMN writer (and SMU grad/season ticket holder) Keith Whitmire.
Re: DMN storiesAgreed. Both were good reading. Maybe a wake-up call to the SMU administration. Yes, good to see the stuff from Keith, who was a classmate of mine.
Go Ponies!
Re: DMN storiesI wholeheartedly concur. Thanks PonyFans for posting these great articles! Very interesting to learn the history of Mustang Mania. Let's learn a lesson and fill some seats!
Ought to have a pep rallies for Dallas at large Friday nights and give away free tickets to the most vocal Mustang supporters. As a marketing professional, I know we could squish that "Home Team" TCU crap simply by positioning it as a Ft. Worth vs. Dallas thing. No self-respecting Dallasite would be cought dead in purple. And besides, there are many more us us than them! "It's a couple hundred million dollars. I'm not losing sleep over it." -- David Miller
Re: DMN storiesIt was very nice to open up the paper and see a few great pictures of SMU. (It was good to see Riddle still working out even with an injured knee - Godspeed my friend!)
The mustang mania excerpt was all new info to me, not having much of an SMU past. I agree with Potts, a free seat is much better than an empty seat, in terms of creating a real game atmosphere. And, if the team does its part and wins a few more games, some of those freeloaders should come back with paid admission. I'm sure the food vendors wouldn't mind either way. Pretend we're a movie theater and acknowledge that no profit is made on movie tickets, so let the suckers sneak in! We'll get our money on 5 dollar pizza slices and 4 dollar hot chocolate... wait, i forget, Ford doesn't sell hot chocolate.
