i recommend taking ur foot off the gas and maybe having a nice scotch to calm down, i mean, you know why hb pony dad posts about usc right? and his connection to smu?...in any case, its not really important, i dont think anyone actually expected us to win 7 last year even if JJ had mailed us all a personal note saying that we would.

Can you please, at some point, contribute something of worth to help generate thoughtful, intelligent, and meaningful discussion about SMU athletics? And on multiple occasions Jones has stated that he expected to win 4-5 games in his first season, but also believed that if the team won that many, there was a good chance they could win 1-3 more because college football is like that. Teams get on a roll, learn how to make the necessary plays when the game is on the line, and build momentum, leading to potentially 6-7 wins for the team in year 1.

What's funny is I have a lot higher long term view on the future of SMU Football than at any time in the last 20 years. (I meant it when I said for the last 10 years the reason SMU hasn't been competitive with its natural and traditional rivals is because of its uncompetitive Football Model-I've thoroughly documented that excuse is no longer valid so it should surprise no one that I believe we as a program are headed in the right direction.) But these annual August "blowhards" with their fascist "blind faith" mantra who can't engage in meaningful dialouge or debate about the topic set me off every year. They've been wrong so long because they don't understand what had been missing and what needs to be rebuilt. I actually think I have a lot more patience than about 90% on this board. I already realize Its not going to happen overnite with magic pixie dust-the program is going to rebuilt athlete by athlete and right now we don't have enough.

What’s surprising to me is so many intellectual light-weights cannot grasp this concept.

I have been down on SMU as well. I am also the most optimistic I have been post DP.

I use to enjoy the Model vs. Coach banter on this board; which invariably led to “Stallion is nuts, he thinks coaching doesn’t matter”.

Here is my prediction.

Within the next 1 to 2 years, Stallion will admit that coaching DOES matter.

He will support the firing of Doh and not blame it on the Model.

And for the record, I hope I am wrong on this prediction and Doh has smashing success here.

No, SMU is my second favorite team and I even bought 4 season tickets, even though I live in socal, and only got to sit in them for the TCU debacle.

We are all hoping for better results this year, but after last year, our expectations are tempered with a dose of reality.

June did not say 5-7 games, this is what he said. "Jones says he thought the Mustangs would "probably win four or five games."

No team is going to win unless the "D" decides to tackle and the "O" block, unfortunately, we need bigger and better players to do that consistently!
