Yes, but we all know you believe there is a second editor behind the grassy knoll, mr. p.

Amazing that the coach's goal of selling out his team's stadium is controversial. If we do, we do. If we don't, we don't. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Here's the letter I sent to the editor in response:

Coach June Jones announced a goal of selling out SMU's home opener, and what does SMU alum Ronald Kaim do? Does he decide to be part of the solution to SMU's attendance woes and go out and buy tickets? Does he tell his friends, fellow alums, and co-workers what a great venue Ford Stadium is for families on a fall afternoon? Does he encourage them to buy a ticket and donate it back to SMU's Community Ticket Program so that a local kid can experience college football in person when he or she could not otherwise afford to do so? Does he at least take his mama's advice to not say anything at all if he can't think of something nice to say?

Nope. He writes a letter to the paper to spread doom and gloom that has been part of SMU's problem for 20 years, to laugh at Coach Jones' belief in his plan, and to suggest that even if SMU was to achieve the goal of an opening day sellout(through the hard work of committed alums and fans who are doing all of the things listed above that Mr. Kaim isn't doing), it would be "fishy" (as if that even makes any sense).

I might have expected such sneering from Longhorns and Aggies, but with "friends" like Mr. Kaim, who needs enemies?

I too take issue with his using the term "fishy". I don't care if we charge ten cents a ticket, if we can fill up Ford Stadium. A full stadium speaks for itself. What is the old addage, never argue with a fool some people won't know the difference. Just encourage friends, neighbors, alums (who don't go to games) to come out to Ford for some good old fashioned college football and to join you for drinks on the boulevard. If you do that, we'll fill up Ford. Let the Ronald's of the world sit at their computers spreading bile, just keep it positive and let's show these folks that a sellout is possible.

Great letter DiamondM!

Fishy
adj., -i·er, -i·est.
1.) Resembling or suggestive of fish, as in taste or odor.
2.) Cold or expressionless: a fishy stare.
3.) Informal. Inspiring doubt or suspicion: Something is fishy about the accident.

I think this alum is Fishy (and I mean the second definition above).

Got a call yesterday from the DMN, they're considering publishing my letter in Sunday's sports section and wanted my verbal okay.

I got anonymous death threats from a letter I submitted to the DMN a few years ago. Well, my parents got death threats on my behalf.
