SMU coach June Jones said today that he expects the NCAA to rule on Shawnbrey McNeal's hardship waiver Thursday.

That, of course, is only two days before the Ponies' season-opener with Stephen F. Austin.

McNeal, a running back transfer from Miami, missed practice Friday because his mother is in the hospital. Her illness, along with some other family issues, is why McNeal is hoping the NCAA will approve him to play this fall instead of sitting out a year.

Also... SMU's two-deep will be released Monday.

I fully expect him to be ruled eligible due to his circumstances.

Good thing he's allowed to practice. Didn't the Serge Elizee thing get resolved the week of the first game or was that earlier?
