The '"they wanted us to score argument" is ridiculous. The only time they got in the end zone all night was after two interception returns that got the ball inside the 5. I can't imagine anyone thinking that letting us score a TD so they can get a TD with 1:31 left, then get a 2 point conversion is better than trying to stop us at midfield with 2nd and long, then kicking a FG for the win.

Ponylove, god bless you, i wish we had 20,000 more like you. But i also wish we had another 20,000 football fans who knew the situation and have higher expectations for the school and the program than to cheer wildly for non-accomplishments.

make that 19,999. Whats so hard to understand about the basic math of being able to take a knee and run out the clock on 4 downs? you might also want to read some of Harpers post game comments. He's the SFA head coach.

.....If we didn't score we could have run the clock out. SFA could not have stopped us. Us scoring was the only way they could get back on the field. The ONLY chance they had to not lose.

Did you even watch the video of the play? It is pretty blatant.

Pretty sure you shouldn't doubt my expectations for the program...but then again, you probably have forgotten more than I will ever know about football....or basketball...or SMU athletics in general...

I'll keep supporting the team and their (non)accomplishments...and have a hell of a good time doing it...see you in Birmingham.

SFA had their agenda.....SMU had their agenda.

You guys always assume the worst....the other guy must be right and we must be wrong
"well if SFA wanted/let us score then by golly it MUST BE a mistake for us to score.

We score a touchdown....and it "sucks"
We win and it "sucks"
We have a sellout and it "sucks".....blah blah

Stallion and the boo birds want to always pretend SMU is in the wrong.

Stallion says if McNeal takes a knee "oh we "coulda" run out the clock",
Stallion says "but by McNeal scoring SFA "COULD HAVE" tied or won
yeah they "COULD HAVE".....if's and buts

Yeah IF they can march the field...AND IF they get the two point conversion

IF IF IF....lots of ifs to paint SMU in a bad light.

Did not happen

But Stallion wants to paint SMU as the idiots.....Stallion doesn't want to hear the other possible "if's"

"IF" SMU doesn't score....McNeal takes the knee.... What "if" Bo fumbles a snap while trying to run out the clock, SFA gets a TD and we lost the freaking game in regulation!

There would be hell to pay from the Stallion Boo Birds.....they would be screaming "OH MY GOD why, why, why did McNeal take a knee????????"...."at least we coulda taken it to over-time"....."instead we lost in regulation".....Stallion would be screaming don't these Bozos know the golden rule to never takes points off the board!

I was excited about winning until I got on here to see what people thought. I knew it was an ugly game, but, still, how often has W popped up in recent years?

I also agree that SFA let us score, but that didn't stop me from running around the house cheering...Although, admittedly, I wasn't as enthusiastic as I was after DJ's catch.

I had left my seat and was watching the last two minutes from the grassy knoll. And yes, I am among the group that was running around yelling when we scored. How could you not be. I also understand the arguement about taking a knee. It would have been the most logical thing to do, but absolutely, positively, not the most satisfying. I am happy with the way things turned out. But then I have been accused of being a Sunshiner.
When will I start feeling stimulated??

Hey McNeal is learning and lets be honest, running backs don't get to run 49 yards down an open field for a score very often. Hopefully, he'll do that when teams are trying to tackle him and if we get a kneel down situation, he'll stop at the 1 yard line next time and run back and forth across the field until someone comes and tackles him.

I didn't hear Harper's comments. He may have told his team to allow us to score on the play IF we get past the 1st down marker, because then it would have been over. But, to let us get there from the get go is stupid. If they stop us short on that play, then we only get one more chance at it before we have to punt.

so what (that they let us score). Clearly they hoped to be able to put up 8 pts and salvage OT. We were moving the ball and probably would have run the clock out, so can't fault them that strategy. As far as I am concerned, put the points on the board and make them go the length of the field AMD have to convert a 2 pointer...just to get to OT. I like our chances better with an 8 pt lead, but this is now ancient history.

On to Birmingham

Hey Mr. [deleted] Insane-you care to point out one post where I said McNeil made a mistake in scoring. What I did was the describe the strategy that SFA employed and the reasons they decided to go with that strategy. Two different things you ignorant [deleted]. You can't comment on one damn aspect of the program without about 3 paragraphs bashing me or whomever makes an interesting point about the program-usually they are the posters who actually know something about what they are talking about. Do you not understand enough about football to keep your comments about football? I have always been extremely excited about Mcneil and have always considered him one of the key recruits in raising the level of the program.
