A few tidbits:

1. SMU's run defense will be tested in this game--I haven't seen that discussed much so far. Hawaii was fortunate to jump to a big lead due to turnovers by Washington State, as Washington State has two really good RBs that weren't as big of a factor after it became 35-0. Cal transfer James Montgomery was really good--17 carries for 118 yards and a TD. It should be obvious when the game starts that Washington State will try to control the game by running they ball, so that will be a big test for SMU's D.

2. Washington State probably had the least depth of any BCS conference team going into this season due to transfers, suspensions, injuries, and poor recruiting classes. Their D has been hurt the most by this--their top pass rusher missed the Hawaii game (and will miss the SMU game) due to injury and their key LB and safety both left the Hawaii game with injury. This lack of depth and team speed limited their coverages (they played Hawaii twice in 10 months so there is a lot of film on this), really opening things up for speedy receivers. Someone like Darius Johnson would have a big game due to his speed, but if he's hurt both Robinson and Sanders will probably get huge stats.

If you want to read the quotes from the Hawaii-Washington State game, I tried to archive all of them in my blog:

Lets hope the players stay focused and not celebrate this win all week like Okie State after Georgia. We are getting better but lets keep it real here.

Caution is always warranted when discussing post-DP SMU Football.

However, just for perspective, bear in mind that the same Hawaii team that destroyed WSU also needed a touchdown almost literally in the final minute to escape SFA conference-mate Central Arkansas the week before. And that's with Hawaii benefitting from the fatigue/travel advantage they always have when hosting anyone in the islands.

Playing in Pullman can be very difficult especially for a young team who is not used to winning on the road. It's a 2 1/2 hour flight to Seattle, an hour flight to Spokane, and then a 2 hour drive to Pullman

Other than flu shots, of course.

The weather forecast is for rain, so pack a raincoat.

Its always wise to pack a raincoat lest you be called Daddy when you don't want to be.

As far as the football game, we've proven over the years that we can lose to anyone. WSU did manage to beat Washington last year. We need to go into this game ready for a war.

If we're chartering a plane, why wouldn't we fly direct to Spokane? Or even an airport closer to the hotel or Pullman?

If we start to play like we did in the third quarter, just start taking a knee on the ball. If we took a knee for three downs and then punted the entire third quarter the game wouldn't have been as close....

great movie.

To the best of my knowledge, Spokane is the only airport one can fly into to get to Pullman. There are a few tiny prop plane airports, but Pullman is basically in the middle of nowhere and getting there is a [deleted]
