For what it's worth:

If Youri Yenga is limited or can't go at all against Washington State, look for Fleming to step into the starting lineup, with Pete Fleps sliding over to Yenga's spot and Fleming starting in Fleps' position.

Fleming continues to learn the position, but has come miles since being moved from defensive end. He made perhaps the play of the day in Thursday morning's practice when he rushed around the left end and got locked up with the tackle (don't remember who was playing RT on that drill). QB Bo Levi Mitchell took the snap and faked a pass to the left, and then turned around and fired a screen pass to the right ... only to watch Fleming shake loose from his blocker, time his leap and extend his arms to their highest point to make a very impressive interception. It wasn't a bad throw at all, but Fleming's height and reach and leaping ability present legitimate issues on such plays. In addition, it helps that Fleming was an accomplished receiver in high school, as he couldn't have been more than 10-12 feet away from Mitchell, who fired the pass with a lot of velocity, so it was basically a split-second reaction and then making the interception almost from point-blank range. Several teammates appeared seriously impressed by Fleming's timing and athleticism on a play that a lot of LBs have no chance to make.

Unless the O scores early and often, I fear passing will not be our D's concern. The running game is the big concern early on. I hope Yenga or Fleming are up for the job of run stopping Saturday.
