Is it too early to talk about the E Carolina game?

Postby hawaiisashimi_smu » Sun Sep 27, 2009 9:13 pm

I know it should be one game at a time but we are going to be slaughtered by TCU. They will be out to stay in the top ten and will RUT the game.

As far as East Carolina, I say we win by 7!!!! 8)

I'm wondering-have any of you predicting we beat ECU actually watched them play or do you just read about them on the internet. I don't think we match up with ECU well at all-and I have watched them play numerous times this year and last.

I've watched several of their games. I think we match up pretty well with them, actually. We will see.

Exactly my point with earlier post about being smart if TCU blowout. Save our starters and have them healthy for ECU game which is much more important, especially if we are down multiple TDs. Don't get Yenga, Aldrick R. or our RB McNeil, etc. hurt or beat up worse and save them after a quarter or so for the following week at home.

Really hope this staff is smart enough to think this one over and doesn't think because of our magic offense we can come back no matter how far down. Don't get your RB and QB pounded to death (or got forbid Sanders) but instead save them for ECU game. It is critical our staff see big picture here. We need healthy McNeil rest of the year.

I know stats only tell so much but fro that it looks like we match up pretty well:
ECU ttl D #87, Rush D #53, Pass D #104, Pass Eff D #111
SMU TTL O #26, Pass O #7, Pass Eff # 83

I like our O vs. their D

ECU TTL O #107 (balanced), Pass Eff #104
SMU TTL D #98, Rush D #36, Pass Eff D #26

I like our D vs. their O

Looks like we match up.

The truth is, they've played some better competition. Still, the WVU game wasn't as close as the scoreboard said, UNC is turning out to be a bit of a dud, and UCF is not a good team - and some of their fans say they should have won.

Exactly, losing to two high profile teams by 2TD that are not looking as good as their hype and barely getting by Appalacian St. and UCF. I do not think their competition, while better than ours, is as good as first thought.

ECU will be one of the most physical teams we see in CUSA this year. I don't like how we match up. Maybe we can outscore them if we come away from Ft Worth reasonably healthy

We have a good shot at winning the ECU game. I like the way our offensive line has performed thus far and if we can give Mitchell time we ought to be able to make some plays downfield.

ECU 20
Back off Warchild seriously.

Ha! well that allegedly improved Offensive Line last year produced negative yards rushing against TCU. They set the baseline. From what I saw in the TCU/Clemson game this will be the biggest mismatch on the field and will be the biggest determining factor in the game.
