Wow, Patterson will use anything for motivation 9:53 AM Wed, Sep 30, 2009 | Permalink | Yahoo! Buzz Kate Hairopoulos/Reporter Bio | E-mail | News tips This blurb in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram caught my eye this morning: [TCU coach Gary] Patterson said he likes [SMU coach June] Jones and considers him a friend, but a remark the coach reportedly made on an area radio station a while back is just one of a few bulletin-board quotes the Frogs will use before the teams meet Saturday. Patterson even pondered the idea of "breaking out the black uniforms for this group." "Coach Jones said there hadn't been a good football team in the Metroplex in a while," Patterson said, only half-joking. "I got e-mails on it. Maybe he doesn't consider us in the Metroplex." Lordy. Jones and SMU are plenty aware of TCU's success, this season and for a long stretch now. ________________________________________________________ If you have a video camera at SMU practice, watch out... 9:29 AM Wed, Sep 30, 2009 | Permalink | Yahoo! Buzz Kate Hairopoulos/Reporter Bio | E-mail | News tips SMU is always careful of what news crews video tape before, after or during practice. But it does seem like this week, what with the TCU game being in the same media market, the coaches are being extra sensitive to what is being filmed. At least a camera crew a day has been questioned this week... Special teams coach Dennis McKnight would make a great bouncer... On a different topic, coach June Jones is worried about his many friends in Samoa, after the tsunami hit there yesterday. Jones and his foundation serve Samoa with an annual medical mission and football camp. Jones established a recruiting pipeline from there while at Hawaii and has visited at least once a year for the past 11 years. Finally, SMU is holding a press conference to today to make an announcement involving Jones, Madeleine Pickens, T. Boone Pickens and Roger Staubach and something called "Salute To The Mustangs." The announcement involves the halftime show of the Navy game here on Oct. 17 - Staubach, of course, played for Navy. Mrs. Pickens' tie-in is associated with her National Wild Horse Foundation. I'll have more details later.
Re: Kate Speaks (just not to 94)
Let's hope we don't screw up that halftime show the way we have, well, every other halftime show. T. Boone, Madeline, and Staubach...there's some $$$
Re: Kate Speaks (just not to 94)Could T. Boone part with some of his OSU money??
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: Kate Speaks (just not to 94)
You would hope so. I would think OSU has about run out of things to spend it on. Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein.

Re: Kate Speaks (just not to 94)I hope their salute to the mustangs doesn't involve a full-sized, tamed and/or drugged horse.
The donkey's name is Kiki.
On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney? Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.
Re: Kate Speaks (just not to 94)I, too, hope the halftime show doesn't include a full-grown mustang and the possibility of replacing Peruna. Peruna would try to kick the [deleted] of the horse (and could probably do so). This would be a sneaky way for JJ to get his horse to replace Peruna. He already brought one in last year to see how it would react on the astroturf. Pres. Turner hit the roof when he found out about it.

Re: Kate Speaks (just not to 94)Actually Boone gave stock to the OSU foundation which was invested in a hedge fund-not money which they failed to sell before the market crash. I believe the total loss to the university fund was in the neighborhood of $300,000,000.00(original donation invested $165,000,000.00) .-so many of the additional plans have been scaled back. Then he replenshed the fund with another 65,000,000.00

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: Kate Speaks (just not to 94)
T. Boone sent one of his kids to school at SMU.
Re: Kate Speaks (just not to 94)
I know, let's call the full sized horse "Diamond M" and have a mysterious masked rider gallop around Ford after we score!
Re: Kate Speaks (just not to 94)Great Aggie Joke-you guys realize that the Texas Aggies cut Boone Pickens from their BB team so that's why he ended up in Stillwater. Poor Aggies

Re: Kate Speaks (just not to 94)If JJ replaces Peruna with a full-sized horse, me and him are gonna have problems
Re: Kate Speaks (just not to 94)he gave an interview the other day that the loss was "unrealized" like any other investment until you extract, or some sort of nonsense... he also made a comment about his commitment to continue donating... guess he is really banking on the wind WEST DIVISION CHAMPS 2010
