The Blvd is the place to be, you will love it, but it is not your traditional tailgate...Get there early and you can park on the streets for free, bring disposable coolers with what you want, find an empty spot and party..make sure to check out some of the better tents, everyone is friendly and you can always find a cold beer or brat....
As far as your seats go, just get in the stadium, should be plenty of room and you can sit where you like with your Pirate Brethren, seat sitting is not enforced, you can move to any empty area you want, so you can easily go a bit higher to get a better view.
Enjoy!
Unless you are sitting in my seat. I will undoubtedly ask you to move. No offense intended, though.

Heh, true..but point being there will be plenty of empty seats and you are allowed to go pretty much anywhere you want, especially on the visitors side.

Looking forward to seeing some Pirate fans at the game. Enjoy the spectacle that is The Boulevard. Always a fun and lively scene even in the worst of times for SMU football. My advice would be to get to the game a good 2 hrs before kickoff to walk around our beautiful campus and take it the sights. SMU is truly one of the most aesthetically pleasing campuses you will ever find. Most of our fans/students are quite friendly and approachable. We do have a bit of a "country club" mentality but that can be overlooked. Have a great time!
Back off Warchild seriously.

I believe all on campus parking is reserved for season ticket holders. Visitors and single game ticket holders can park for free (I think) on the east side of U.S. 75 (Central Expwy) in the parking lots for DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) and the office bldg/hotel surface lot along the north side of the first street north of Mockingbird Lane (Mockingbird runs along the south end of the campus). There are free shuttles from these parking lots to the campus. I'm not sure if you can "tailgate" in these lots or not. You can also try to find on street parking on neighborhood streets around campus. As others have said, just head on over to the Boulevard (Bishop Blvd.)that runs north/south through the middle of the campus and join in with the SMU crowd for your "tailgating " experience. This may be helpfull" http://smu.edu/maps/flash/
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Thanks everyone for your kindness.
I rode through campus today and had lunch at Jason's Deli nearby. We will probally arrive early tomorrow and park in the residential area just opposite the open end of the stadium so we can walk around the campus and yet be close enough to resupply our Pirate beverages. We look forward to seeing the SMU faithful on the Blvd. thomorrow afternoon.

My advice would be to get to the game a good 5 hours before kickoff. But I like to party when I know the mustangs are going to win.
It tastes better when served from a Bowl (game)!

FYI, the lot with the shuttle bus over to campus is right across the street from that Jason's Deli you were at (assuming you were at the one on Mockingbird). It's behind the apartments. Enjoy your stay in Dallas....well, I hope you don't enjoy Saturday night TOO much (i.e. SMU wins instead of ECU).
