This marks the second straight season these two schools have met and Green said the 2009 film of SMU does not even resemble what he saw in 2008.
"They are not even the same team. They are so much better at executing that offense. They are really playing at such a high level right now," he said. "They have moved the ball and scored points in every ball game. The quarterback looks very comfortable. He is reading defenses extremely well and knows exactly where to go with the ball."
Green is impressed by how quickly SMU has developed a deep stable of speedy wide receivers. Terrence Wilkerson, Aldrick Robinson and Cole Beasley are all threats to get behind the secondary or turn a short pass into a long gain.
However, Green said the greatest improvement he's seen in the SMU offense involves the offensive line, which has allowed only 12 sacks in 216 passing attempts. Tackles Kelvin Beachum and J.T. Brooks have done a good job of containing pass-rushing defensive ends to allow Mitchell the opportunity to scan the field and find receivers.
