Maybe I should have elaborated more, there were lots of little things as to why we lost, but if Davis makes that play the game likely is over. Still we showed heart in scoring the tying TD. I knew we wouldn't win if it went to overtime.

SMU is now 1-10 in OT. Should have gone for 2 when we scored late.

I agree that we did show some heart coming back when we were 7 down.

I wondered if we would go for 2 or not. Hindsight is great. You have to assume Navy will at least get 3 in OT and of couse our kicker would get 3 too. Just need one offensive pass play. Seemed like very few in second half

It is obvious that JJ was in a hurry to start the half time festivities. He could not wait for the Geldings to be introduced.

Rock Dennis had no reason to commit pass interference on that play.

This is the second game that JJ and Staff has cost us. We should be 5-1 instead of 3 and 3. You use the talent you have to win. Why were we passing in the overtime instead of running the ball ? Clock management is a joke. He used the same tired excuses in his after game radio conference. At 2 mIllion a year we are not getting our monies worth. Our mantra seems to be lets go for the big play and put them away and we are not yet good enuff for that type of approach. As D Royal used to say you dance with the one that brung you. Our game mix of plays changed in the second half of the WSU game just as it did in the Navy and it cost us. :x

I had no problem with the clock management. Play calling in OT was not what I would have done, but we all knew Jones was aggressive when he was hired. He made the same type of calls in Hawaii, and Hawaii fans came here and warned us about it. Sometimes is works, sometimes it doesn't.

If McNeal hadn't tripped on the first play of OT he was going to pick up 10 yards easy. Might be having a different conversation.

Agreed.

Actually, SMU did run on the first play of OT and the play lost one yard.

That was the play that changed the game in OT. McNeal had a nice hole to run through and that wasted down put the offense in a bad situation.

Also, I didn't like kicking that long FG. Even if he would have made it. I thought we should have gone for it on 4th down.

Yeah, ball was uncatchable. Who, and where were the refs from :?: :?:

Actually they seemed to be the screwy CUSA unpredictable refs.
May the forth be with us.

the real damaging series to me was when we were backed up to the 6 yard line off a navy kickoff. on 2nd down and 3rd down BLM chooses to air it out down the sideline twice. WHY???????????????? Low percentage bad plays and passes. we then punt from the end zone, navy gets great field position, scores and takes control. IN that situation, you have to get a first down, not throw two hail freakin marys.

Either or both of those plays easily could have resulted in a defensive pass interference flag against Navy. Considering the refs had hit McCann (I think) with a pass interference flag on the previous possession on a ball that was probably 10 yards too high to be catchable, it was surprising that at least one of those deep passes to Aldrick Robinson didn't earn a pass interference flag.

against us it was Rock that was called for PI...and the pass to Al on the east side saw the Navy defender do EXACTLY what they called on Rock...except Al's pass was catchable.

Sorry BLM was pretty good and if they or us check the DVD we will see the ball went right through the recievers hands and the passes were pretty good, maybe could have used a little more 'touch'..but the 'Thruth' missed and/or dropped two passes and one or two went right through his hands and they were in position, but hey he had been out for weeks and am certain was not up to speed....no biggy, these things happen but this one was on the coaching...I thought BLM handled himself as well as can be expected..good total game though....our kicker was off and that happens too, but shouldn't have been on him so much because why didn't we at least get some yardage to get the first down in overtime and NOT go into the end zone two times for it all after the loss on the draw to McNeaL, and at least get in position to get the field goal closer and NOT put the pressure on him like that?....

I'll take my chances with Robinson. But on the second one he was either winded or not fully healthy. We don't win last week without that bomb. That's the essence of the Run and Shoot. Throw it 5 times and you'll hit on the big play. You MUST streatch the field.

And I'm sorry Rock Dennis was interferring with the Navy receiver all the way down the field. It was uncatchable only because Dennis had a hold of him for 10 yards.
