What a different game. What do you think the average 40 time is on that field?

What I want to know is why the background music is the old Czarist national anthem of Russia?

That team was very advanced. They are running a variation of the "Wild <insert name of school mascot>" formation.

For a good overview of how American college football has evolved from its origins as a rugby-style game to its current form (including societal pressures to change rules, etc.), this book is a good read.

Also covers some of the controversial elements of college sports as big business. Great chapter on the Death Penalty at SMU.

That does not look all that much different than the DVD that I have of the 1969 Texas-Arkansas game. When you are my age that does not seem all that ancient.
