Former Wylie player walks into SMU opportunity
By Daniel Youngblood

As a prep standout at Wylie during the 2006 and 2007 seasons, Cameron Rogers viewed University of Houston quarterback Case Keenum as a role model.

He watched as Keenum, a former Wylie standout, beat all odds to excel at the Division I level and had dreams of doing the same.

Like Keenum, Rogers was not highly coveted out of high school. In fact, he wasn’t offered a single Division I scholarship.

But like Keenum, Rogers wouldn’t let that deter him from realizing his dream. And just a little more than a year after walking on to play at Southern Methodist, the 6-foot, 223-pound linebacker has earned a scholarship and playing time for the upstart Mustangs this season.

Couldn't agree more. Love the stories of a walk-on making good.
Hope Rogers feels better and returns to top form.
Nice story.
