The rotating QB thing did kind of mess with UH. The change of pace Wildcat offense that Braden ran and the 4 wide that Padron ran. I also noticed that with Padron's height he does not have to move around in the pocket as much to see the throwing lanes. I am encouraged by both players.
You clearly have no idea what the wildcat offense is. Here is a hint, when Miami runs the wildcat the qb is lined up as the wr and a rb takes the snap. There are other differences, but those two should be enough to realize that SMU was not running the wildcat.

Actually, Wuba, the "Wildcat" is a formation based on the old-fashioned single wing. It doesn't matter if the QB is even on the field or who takes the snap. UT's version of the "Wildcat" has a WR taking the snap. When Arkansas ran it with McFadden their QB went to the sidelines. The "Wildcat" refers to an offensive formation.

In which of those versions of the wildcat you mentioned was the qb taking the snap? Oh, none of them.

It doesn't matter WHO takes the snap. It's a FORMATION.

I suppose if Braden were listed on the depth chart as an RB you would say it was the Wildcat.

Yes, but it is not a formation that has 4 wr on the field.

Agreed. By the way - UAB runs their version of the Wildcat, which they call the "Vulcan" using their backup QB

I thought both young quarterbacks brought something that has been missing all season...a mobile quarterback that can run for 1st down when necessary.

The wildcat is scheme driven not position driven. Auburn used backup QB Cody Burns as their wildcat QB last year and this year. Their is not one set in stone version. Our version has 4 wideouts on the field (like Auburn does at times).

If JJ wanted a runner Willis would still be the QB. The run and shoot relies on the QB to make quick decisions and THROW THE BALL. Granted, I like the mobility the QBs showed, but if the offense is run properly, they dont need to be running anywhere.
