Re: The Fantasy
this is actually a really interesting idea, if you could put the scheme together in 3-4 days(which you cant). still would be a neat package. ![]()
Re: The Fantasy
then we could get paul johnson to come in and run the offense on key plays...
Re: The FantasyWe've played Navy two years in a row, plus two times when Paul Johnson coached them, and have film of those games, plus study film to prepare for those games. I suspect, we have about 95% of Paul Johnson's playbook, if we chose to reverse engineer it. Add in some JJ run and shoot packages which use Sanders and Robinson and you've got a 21st Century version of the famous failure of Hayden Fry, the wishbone. In all seriousness, though, our line is not built for an option offense. If we could put in an option package as a change of pace, it might catch a team like Tulsa off-guard.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: The FantasyHayden called it the "Flying Bone" or "Flying Wishbone". He was a great marketer, he just had too few players those years and was flying on BS.
Re: The FantasyYou're right mex, I was correcting something and somehow deleted the word "flying" in front of "wishone". Hayden was a real innovator and great coach, but didn't have the "horses" he needed.

Re: The FantasyIt had nothing to do with having the players. It had to do with running an option offense with no TE on either side and having your QB smashed by bookend DTs. It lasted one or two plays and it was determined that the Hammond family would have filed murder one on Hayden if it were allowed to continue. On paper it looked good but in reality the defensive line moved instead of just standing still.
