Scared may be too strong a word, but I sincerely hope that we are reading far more of the press, and talking WAY more about potential bowl berths, than the team is.

As someone who was that the 1997 game that was our Independence Bowl warm up against 0-10 TCU where they managed to get beat... and remembers the 2006 team that was going bowling, and got beat by these same Rice Owls... there's a lot of season left to play.

Don't get me wrong, I am as excited about this team as I have been at any time in the past 25 years. I'm driving friends and family nuts with Mustang talk. And I think this team is good enough to win out...

But they are NOT good enough to let an unexpected victory and a soft schedule go to their heads, and go on cruise control for the remainder of the season.

Keep playing tough, keep practicing hard, and let the bowl committees take care of their own business.

I managed to wake up an entire totally silent section at TTU-Kan this weekend with my "WAY TO GO MUSTANGS!" when they went ahead... this is fun, I'm enjoying it. But they have to play every minute of every game. Unlike Texas, they're not good enough to take a quarter off.
Stallion doesn't think I'm a stinkin' genius anymore.

Repeat this mantra. Every game from here on out is winnable and every game from here on out is losable.

Every team gets a little better as the season progresses. Rice is no exception. They would like nothing more than to beat us. So, let's focus on the Owls and play harder this week than last week and perhaps we'll notch our fifth win. I still contend that we need seven wins to go bowling, so we need every W we can get.

Has the question really ever come down to if you would do them?

My friend's wife told me to get rid of my standards and just find someone to be in a relationship since I am not far from being a man and still single.

That said, you don't want someone so hideous that your friends laugh and point when she walks into the room. But if they already laugh and point when you come into the room, then anything goes. But you do learn to dump your checklist. I swore that I'd never marry a woman who was divorced. Then I met my wife. When I reached 35 and the women who were close to my age were either psycho (tip-off multiple cats), 300 lbs., or divorced, divorced began looking pretty good.

I just hit that stage.
