Yenga and 3rd Downs

Postby Pony in SA » Wed Nov 18, 2009 10:59 am

I think we need Yenga to have more of an impact and really hope this week is one of those games. Frankly, I thought we would get more production from him as year as gone on. Watching DVR of UTEP game we got no real pressure last week and need that to improve.

Also, we need our offense to finally have a game where they are productive on 3rd down. Going 1 of 6 and allowing Marshall to run 30 more plays than us will be a disaster. We need our offense to finally put an entire game together and stay on the field and score points. If not, I think we do not win this game.

I'm pretty sure we need to score points in any game...

3rd down conversions has been abysmal all year. And with our injury depleted defense, we need the O to hold onto the ball as much as possible. We sure need to improve 3rd down conversions.

To me, a listener on radio from Florida, Yenga's name is rarely mentioned. Has he been doubled teamed and is therefore out of the action, or has his adjustment to lb been less fruitful than anticipated.

Empirical evidence has proven that the team that scores the most points typically wins.

The change in position has him dropping back in pass coverage a lot which explains most of the drop in production...playing LB for the first time in his life has created a new learning curve for him, coaches say he's just now playing naturally without overthinking his assignments
