1st & 10 was a great Smu atmosphere on Sat

Postby Special_Delivery_Smu_Fans » Mon Nov 23, 2009 11:12 am

That was a blast at the 1st & 10 Saturday. (except for the ending). Great food, great drinks, and a wonderful "Smu Atmosphere". The place was packed, standing room only, with cheering Smu fans. The live game video although not perfect was much better than no video at all. Great to finally meet you "Dutch". If Smu keeps winning the 1st & 10 will be the place to be for those that can't make road games.

Here are a few rough videos from Sat. (might take 8 seconds to download)

By the way Dutch, several people were discussing "IF" we get to the Hawaii Bowl would you be willing to open the 1st & 10 on Christmas Eve? Maybe show the Hawaii Bowl on all the big screens. Almost like a Smu Private Bowl Party?

Great time at a great burger joint. Loudest SMU-watching party I've ever been to.

Great turnout. In addition to Dutch, I recognized a few other PonyFans: BUS, the Special Delivery guys, Smoopower, PonyPride, etc.

Plus, we had coaches (women's golf coach Todd Selders and men's tennis coach Carl Neufeld) in attendance, as well as some former players (Darren Harrington, Greg Gardner and I think I recognized the great Chad Patton).

Awesome time, despite the score.

I would totally be in for Xmas Eve, but only after my age old family tradition of watching Die Hard...

as an addition to the folks that DarkHorse mentioned, Dennis McKnight came by for lunch and a bloody mary on Sunday and watched the Cowboys game.

Coach McKnight is a great guy, funny too, and we're lucky to have had him here to step in after Frank Gansz passed away.

Except for being at an actual game itself, I can't ever remember being around so many SMU fans watching a game. At first I was almost freaked out, like I was in some sort of surreal dream, but it proved to be exhilarating and a lot of fun.

Guess I better plan on renting an RV because this bowl game is going to be a cause for major celebration and I doubt the ability to get a cab at 11 PM Christmas eve.
