J. R. McConico - Job well done

Postby SMU 86 » Sat Nov 28, 2009 7:23 pm

For a young man to have this as the first time touching the field this year he pretty well shutdown his corner. This young man has some serious coverage skills. Someone told me he did but to see it is really something nice. Best wishes in your career at SMU.

I got to congratulate him and shake his hand and tell him thanks after the game and he was so appreciative... a class act indeed...

I kept looking his way-nothing was going on. Can Tulane afford scouting game films-you'd think they would have tested him more. But he must have done a decent job.

looked like their main goal was to establish the run, the go to play action and try to get the safety to commit...which they did a couple of times, including on one TD

Don't want to sound too critical, but...

He had the blown coverage on the second tulane touchdown...

Also, had a couple of plays where he couldn't stay with receivers as they cut across the field and they made big gains. Maybe they were running zone and he was supposed to pass them off, but it didn't look like it to me...

For a first start, I thought McConico did a fine job.
Here's to bigger and better performances.

They were running some zone. He did a good job. Also, when the offensive pass interference was called it was because J. R. was covering him close so he had to push off. Good job J. R.

they were running zone on the long TD play. McConico passed the reciever off to Rock who had poor position and let the reciever get inside position on the play.
