The worst-kept secret on the Hilltop is expected to become official at 1 p.m. today.

Football coach June Jones, athletic director Steve Orsini and school president R. Gerald Turner are expected to announce that the Mustangs are headed to the Dec. 24 Sheraton Hawaii Bowl.

The announcement is scheduled for the Commons Area of the Hughes-Trigg Student Center.

SMU hasn't been to a bowl game in 25 years, the fourth-longest drought in the nation.

Dickerson, James to receive Legends Award: Eric Dickerson and Craig James, former star running backs for the Mustangs, were jointly named recipients of the 2009 PricewaterhouseCoopers Doak Walker Legends Award.

Dickerson and James will accept their trophies at the Doak Walker Award banquet on Feb. 19 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel.

The award is presented by the SMU Athletic Forum, with the Forum board of directors choosing the winner from a list of nominees.
