In what SMU president R. Gerald Turner called "the worst-kept secret anywhere," SMU officially accepted the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl's invitation to the Mustangs to play Dec. 24 in Aloha Stadium in Honolulu.
The announcement, in front of media, alumni and many members of the team, ended a 25-year bowl drought for the Mustangs, whose last bowl game was the 1984 Aloha Bowl.
