Have no regrets, Make the trip to the Hawaii Bowl...

c'mon guys its been 20+ years since the mustangs have been to a bowl game, not since 1984, and that is a long time. I haven't been in the same situation as a lot of SMU fans since I've had the luxury of living the dream of going to the Sugar Bowl, even though we lost, it will always stand out in my mind as an experience i'll always remember and be thankful for. I would've thought most if not all hardcore SMU fans would attend the first bowl game regardless of where it was held. Heck I quit my job just so I could attend the sugar bowl in new orleans, and coming from Hawaii, it was one heck of a ride... got to try authentic creole/cajun food, and i can still remember the taste of the shrimp and jambalaya at the many different restaurants in the french quarter. People there are different, they have a certain flair about them, they're carrying around the mystique that makes new orleans famous... After spending about a week wandering around New Orleans I was ready for game day, and the Superdome was even larger then I ever imagined, I felt a part of something great, something magical. None of that would've been possible without making the commitment to go, heck i even convinced my best friend to come with me... I told him at the beginning of the season, if we make it to the bcs bowl game were going no ifs, ands, or buts... He agreed, and the rest was history... Even though we lost it was a very memorable moment, that i'll keep forever, til the day I day... Im a true Warrior fan, and I always will be...

Not easy for all of us...I spent $400 on a plane ticket to NYC months ago for Christmas...sure as hell not spending double that plus hotel fees and rental car fees for one bowl game. I will glady watch on my TV!

This is why I wish we got the New Orleans or Armed Forces bowl....

As has been mentioned by several people in other threads... for many of us (not all, but many) it's not the cost, but the TIMING.

$1200 to see the first bowl in 25 is not the deal breaker.

Christmas away from family who may not see another, or from children who will always remember that year you weren't there... is.

It's a shame. I freely admit I was terribly upset when it became apparent WHICH bowl they were going to. Great for the team, sucks tremendously for me.

I hate it, hate it, hate it that I won't be there, but I won't.
