Any given Saturday

With 3:00 left in the 4th, ECU is leading UH 38-32. We beat ECU who lookslike they may beat UH who beat us. Just goes to prove, I think, that #1 stats and computers don't have all the answers, and #2 the Mustangs aren't that far out of the hunt.

Agreed. No great teams in C-USA, but we're not far from the top teams. We're not at the top, but for the first time in years — or decades — we can see it from here.

Pinkney had a bad case if the flu and the top ECU RB was out the game that we played them. Houston dropped us by 25 points. We are not that good of a football team and have a ways to go but we are turning the corner.

I can make that same argument. Against UH we lost our QB and basically had to sub two kids with almost no playing time. Plus our OL was beat up for half the season. Fact is, one of the biggest differences between good teams and mediocre teams is quality depth. So again, I contend we're not that far away from contending - at least in C-USA on what was (admitedly) a down year as far as the quality of the conference is concerned.

Coach Jones has stated on more than one occasion that we are not that good of a team yet. Hence the close games against Rice and Tulane. We are getting there though. We are 2 seasons away.
