Tough matchup with Nevada

The last 5 times JJ faced Nevada:

2007: Won at Nevada 28-26. Colt Brennan had suffered a concussion in the previous game so backup QB Tyler Graunke was the QB for this game. Just to mess with Nevada's coaches JJ had Colt Brennan and Inoke Funaki take some snaps on the first drive, where Colt just had quick passes that were released before any defenders could get near him. Hawaii had to win at Nevada with a backup QB to make the Sugar Bowl possible...and Hawaii had never won in Reno before.

2006: Won at home 41-34.

2005: Lost at Nevada 38-28.

2004: Won at home 48-26

2003: Lost at Nevada 24-14. I was at that game with my wife. This was with a different coaching staff than the current one--Nevada's then-AD (Ault) fired the head coach and took the head coaching job for himself. Ault is still the head coach for Nevada, and there was some concern about conflict of interest because Ault got a raise by taking the head coach job and giving up his AD job. The head coach for Nevada then (Tormey) is now an assistant coach for Hawaii, hired last offseason.

I just talked with my parents and they will be at the game. They, like a lot of season ticket holders for Hawaii, ordered their Hawaii Bowl tickets last summer. They support the bowl game because they want it to be able to stick around. Like many other season ticket holders, I don't know which team they would be cheering for...but at least they will be at the game, unlike the Hawaii Bowls when other teams like Boise State represented the WAC.
