I Am Not Satisfied

Postby HollywoodMustang » Fri Dec 25, 2009 1:46 pm

We came, we saw, we conquered.

I am the happiest Mustang fan I have been since beginning "fandom" in 2003 (a year before I started SMU).

But I am not satisfied, and will not be satisfied till we are ranked and playing for the CUSA Championship and beyond.

What I saw last night, if true, was the greatest foretelling of things to come. I am ready for SMU to be launched into the stratosphere of non-aq big boys.

Merry Christmas,indeed.

I do not think the Liberty bowl is where this team is headed. I do think, SMU will try to bust the BCS.
I would say that is fair.

Tap the brakes. Jones was right. THis is a great win but it isn't close to where this team needs to be. We have along way to go before we have a BSC busting year.

This was a perfect storm. NEvada lost their D coordinator, two top running backs (an biggest offensive weapons) and lost key D players. Add Jones knows Nevada and is familiar with Hawaii, and SMU has all the advantages.

Notice we didn't have one call against us. One call one way or the other at key times in the game and it could have changed things.

The team did well with execution on both sides of the ball. That, and the above mentioned advantages and we have a game nobody expected.

We are a few players away from considering BSC busting. Conference championships are very real near term goals.

For this season JJ set the goal of making the Hawaii Bowl.

Given some of his comments before the Hawaii Bowl, I'm guessing that JJ will make the goal for next season the Liberty Bowl.

The thing that I have not seen mentioned is that, no question, our coaches knew Nevada, but they knew June's offense as well. They didn't bust a grape on stopping our offense. The defense completely baffled their offense, I don't care WHO was playing running back. Their quarterback was completely confused and never got in any rhythm.

Also, there is no question that our two quick scores put them on their heels.

Let's enjoy this victory for now and not rob ourselves of this historic time in SMU football. Next year will get here fast enough. Wonderful season Mustangs.
