Include tcu in your "Johnny come lately" definition. They never sniffed a winning season until we got the death penalty and the school quit trying to be competitiv. They have been the benefactor of all of that and we are going to sprint right by them in a couple of years.

I have to disagree with you on that. TCU has an extremely rich football tradition from Davey O'Brien to Sammy Baugh to Bob Lilly to LT all the way to the present! They won a couple of national championships early on and have been to over 20 Bowl games. Take away their current string of bowl games and they would still have over 10 bowl appearances. The only thing that has changed due to our abysmal teams is the all-time series record which we use to have a huge edge in and now trail. Nonetheless, TCU is historically a very strong program.

I wouldn't expect too much less You guys in Texas have as much state pride as any state in the country. It's good to have state pride. I'm from Mississippi, and as much as I can't stand Ole MIss, I hope they succeed anytime they play someone from outside the state lines (sans Bama.)

Texans do probably have more state pride than anyone, but when I was growing up in the days of the old Southwest Conference, the Bear Bryant coached Alabama teams were the second favorite college team of huge numbers of Southwest Conference fans. You can understand how bitter these in-state rivalries can be. Oh, my Grandpa was a KA at Ole Miss, but I won't hold it against you for moving to Alabama.
