The last 8 win team SMU defeated was East Carolina in 2009. EC won 9 games which included the conference title game. You are looking back years when SMU beat a D1 school by 35 points.

I think he means beating a team that is already at 8 wins when we played them. If not, add SFA to the list of 2009 teams. Texas St. in 2008.

We beat Arkansas State by 49 in 2006.

If we are looking at beating an 8-win D1 opponent, it would be UTEP (8-2 at the time) in 2005.

Also beat an 8-3 Rice team in 2001, but before then you'd have to go back to '84 when SMU beat 10-1 UNLV in the final game of the regular season before the Aloha Bowl against ND.

My wife was at that game in Las Vegas. She says it was cold and snowing! And that alcohol (beer AND mixed drinks!) were sold in the stadium.
