TV Ratings?

Postby RE Tycoon » Fri Dec 25, 2009 9:48 pm

I've done a few Google searches but can't find the overnights for ESPN. Do they even issue overnights for cable channels? I'm curious to see what the ratings are for the game.

I think what is unique about this particular time slot and day is that people are gathered around the TV conversing with family and not necessarily paying full attention. The flip side to that is I think a lot of people will default to a football game on a holiday and would probably watch this non-BCS bowl game more than any other.

Does anyone have a source for TV ratings? If memory serves, hasn't Dooby pulled ratings in the past?

What you need is this which is the page for the cable ratings.
http://www.zap2it.com/tv/ratings/zap-ni ... =1&Query=*
They are currently showing the ratings for the week ending 12-20-2009.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Check this guy's twitter feed: http://twitter.com/travisyanan
It links to daily broadcast and cable ratings.
Not sure when he'll have Thursday's numbers up or even if it will include the ESPN ratings.. but it might.

I can't address the national ratings, but I do know that locally in DFW the Hawaii Bowl was #1 on Thursday night. (at least in household rating) It was a close second to "It's a Wonderful Life" in demographic numbers. I'd guess about 150,000 people watched locally, but that's based solely on an extrpolation of the household number. Overall: a great performance in the ratings.

That's a tremendous showing! Hopefully some of those fans will come to the comfortable confines of Gerald J Ford next season and hop on that SMU bandwagon.

But please keep the ticket prices low for those of us who have suffered through several years of misery. :D

What's probably more important, a good portion of the people watching were high school football households. The numbers will not reflect how many, but it had to be a high proportion.

45-10!! I wuz dere!!
