Props to Cole Beasley

Postby PerunaPunch » Fri Dec 25, 2009 10:47 am

I don't think anyone has yet given kudos to this young man who, quite literally, got the ball rollin'. Great presence of mind on the TD reception as well. My only advice... Next time you're on the receiving end of a 70-yarder, don't slow down to look for defenders. Just keep the pedal to the floor and head north.

A terrific, highlight reception that the wolf pack never recovered from.

He sure stepped it up yesterday. And great catch for a TD late in the game.

As I watched the game again, I realized how important that catch really was. If he can't strech that far, it really changes the whole tenor of the game. That play opened up the field for KP and allowed us to pretty much do whatever we wanted offensively. Even thought it was only the second play of the game, it might have been the most important play of the whole game.

Yea, if he would have just kept running he probably would have scored on that first pass play but, if AR would have been paying attention instead of celebrating over there (LOL) Beasley probably would have gotten outside of that defender and took it to the house also. It looked to me like Beasley may have been expecting a little blocking help over there or at least have AR get in the way of the defender. Awesome catch and run tho. And AWESOME GAME!!!!!

Obviously, it's hard to read faces beneath a helmet, but I just got the sense that play put Nevada's D in shock. Next play, McNeal waltzes into the endzone untouched. And I don't think they ever really recovered until halftime, which by that time was too late.

I had noticed that AR was loafing on the sideline, but didn't know if he could have made it over to throw a block or not. During the game, there were a couple of instances where players stopped before the whistle. Makes you appreciated the Taylor Thompsons on the team who never stop until the play is dead and buried.
