ESPN - a "Homer"? Low rent journalism?

Postby lwedge » Sat Jan 02, 2010 10:06 am

In the wonderful Mike Leach soap opera - gives us cause to continue to grind the HD during the Holidays - ESPN constantly showed the "support statement" for the firing of Leach by one of the "current Tech players, DT Chris Perry".

Chris Perry is Adam James' roommate, a scout team player who has been disciplined by Leach in the past, complains about his playing time, AND was put on academic probation by the school.

Why didn't ESPN provide Perry's closeness with James and his past problems? Was ESPN shading info?

And how do you screw up at Texas Tech elementary to get put on academic probation?

ESPN is the Worldwide Leader in College Football Deception. Agenda driven. Owned by ABC, who's suprised?

Leach has made mistakes, with this and before, but Tech is in big trouble over this.

Welcome to the Tech board. This story is tired and done. Can we talk about how this benefits SMU? If not move the discussion to RaiderPower.com where the idiocracy is in full cry.

I think Craig James owns a black helicopter.

as of yesterday there had been at least 10 Tech players making comments in favor of James-in fact most comments that have been made by Tech current players have been in favor of James. I don't think its the job of ESPN to go around and try to find dirt on 21 year old kids before reporting their comments when they are in good standing members of the Texas Tech team. Not coincidently each kid that has made a comment has been immediately trashed by Tech's own fans and several by Mike Leach. Very poor legal advice for Leach to trash any student athletes-that's a slippery slope that could come back to haunt him. He needs to explain his conduct by trying to project the best interests of the student athlete and not Mike Leach

By trashing these kids Leach is only making this whole situation worse on himself as he is only proving that he did do what is alleged and furthermore he did it out of spite and vengeance as he is trying to justify his actions rather than trying to disprove them! It doesn't even matter if one of his players raped and murdered someone, he does not have the right to go vigilante on the team!

If Adam James is as bad as he describes him he should have cut him from the team and revoked the scholarship rather than try to teach him a lesson.

On a separate note, I wouldn't want to be associated with Pepperdine Law School. It must be a bigger joke than Texas Tech as they granted Leach a JD.

There are no heroes in this story. To think any side is either without blame or less blame is unacceptable thinking IMO. Hang them all!!!

On a more serious note, of course espn is going to circle the wagons and protect thier own.

Leach is in big trouble. Tech will be fine. Except it will still be populated by Tech students and alums - so that sucks for them.
