Padron could have led UT to victory.

It wouldn't have even been close. Unfortunately for Mack Brown, the freshman QB he needed is a MUSTANG.

TEXAS and TCU lost their bowl games while SMU took care of business. Are you kidding me? Football really is fun again. Thanks June...I love you.

I had to chuckle when Texas was "forced" to go to their backup and the #1 recruit in the nation trots out there. When that's what you have to "resort" to it's tough to feel sorry for them.

When these things happen to SMU, we trot out guys like Logan Turner who looks like the waterboy, Padron who looks like he's 15, and Braden Smith ... and all three did pretty well! A credit to the coach, I'd say.

Coach Jones had been know to have a good eye for QB's when he sees them throw in person. That's how he spotted Pardon.

so your saying kyle padron could have done a better job than the gatorade national player of the year? I have to disagree. Padron is a great QB, but it is too early to say anything negative about garrett gilbert who went against the #1 defense in college football this year (we went against the #119th ranked pass defense) sorry have to disagree with ya'll on this one

I think Kyle Padron is great for SMU, but that quote is ridiculous.

At least a couple of Texas teams won bowl games this year! And SMU won without a cloud overhead except at the game itself! Way to go! Some QB's are just winners! PAdron has played and started in so few games.......his upside with experience might signal fun times on the Hilltop for the next few years. Of course, who knows if he would have ever had the opportunity without Bo's unfortunate injury. Colt's injury showed you better have 2 or 3 good QB's on the roster so I hope June gives them all playing time next year to get them ready so the same thing doesn't happen to us in our BCS bowl.

I think the real question is how a constant top 5 program in the country that has thier pick of the top QB's in the country goes from Colt to a true freshman? Who would have gone in had Gilbert gotten hurt?

UT lost becasue they were really unprepared for something that was a fairly likely occurance. I dont think that reflects very well on the coaching staff.

the top QB prospects in the country don't really want to go somewhere they will likey sit on the bench. Everyone in the country knew that UT was hyping McCoy for Heisman and they weren't going to be giving the backup a lot of playing time. Gilbert figures next season and the future is his

John Chiles (former backup QB now at WR) or Sherrod Harris.
