If Guinn hadn't have been such a firm commit last year to SMU, can you imagine how many D-1 offers could he have fielded to make our Rivals/Scout standings go up? Yes I know he was injured his senior year but the size, a coaches kid, good grades and a good junior year etc. How many schools would love to have him now and especially to come in for his spring term? You can't account for things like that....

I think to some extent, a portion of our "star inflation" is due to the fact that we actually have a live person reporting on the Mustangs for Rivals and Scout now. In years past we didn't, so unless our recruits were also being covered by another school's Scout or Rivals site, our recruits were off the radar screen and our ratings suffered accordingly.

That's not to say that our recruits now aren't better than they were then. I sincerely believe these players in general look a lot more like athletes than they may have in the past. But it's part of the nature of the recruiting biz that increased coverage inevitably leads to increased "buzz" which pushes ratings upwards. That's not a critique, it's just the nature of the beast. I also think it's good for our program as it's just one more thing that puts us on more equal footing with our competition. Recruits are just as guilty of buying into the hype as we all are.

could be something to that but not to the extent that there would be 120 more Three Star + recruits in 2 years. Its across the board. Plus the local sites don't rate the recruits and SMU had an active site when there were 120 less 3 Star+ recruits in the prior recruiting class
