There is no secret to winning football games. It is not the offensive system or the defensive scheme. You have a plan and hire the best coaches available who work hard and can recruit good players who fit the system. You don't stray from the plan even if it may take a few years. You respect the players and treat them right and keep them on the path to their degree and walking the straight and narrow. The success will happen much faster if the fan base supports from the start with positives rather than waiting until you have had a few winning seasons. Bigger crowds with positive comments attract better recruits which produce more wins and eventually better conference affiliations and bcs bowl games and more tv money to support the entire program. It is a vicious cycle where you run a deficit if you don't play the game all the way. "One foot in the pool" only causes more despair.
