Jesse Andrew update

Nose tackle Jesse Andrew is sitting out of practice while awaiting clearance from the NCAA to participate. Andrew has appealed to the NCAA for an extra year of eligibility but has received no response yet. He said he was told a decision doesn't have to be handed down — that could come as late as August — but the NCAA has to acknowledge having received all of the necessary paperwork before he can return to the practice field with his teammates.

To handle the rigors of the position, Andrew — a dedicated weight lifted even before he joined the SMU team — spent the offseason lifting heavier weight in order to bulk up; he said he now tips the scales at "about 300."

I sure hope he's eligible. We can use all the depth we can get on the d-line.
