Dickerson Screwed Again?

Postby PonyKai » Thu May 27, 2010 12:12 pm

So, I'm guessing this means that Mr. Dickerson has once again been passed over for enshrinement in the College Football Hall of Fame? I'm SURE that all of these selections were based solely on merit and accomplishment of the players during their collegiate careers.

I mean, in all honestly, with all due respect to Mr. Tillman's accomplishments off the football field, can you really make a legitimate argument that he belongs in the College Football Hall of Fame while Eric Dickerson does not?

ED was a professional while he was in college is probably what they are thinking.

Dickerson and the pros

The Hall of Fame can suspect what they want, but no one has ever convicted DickerJames of illicit payments. Until that happens, they both belong in the Hall of Fame.

ED admitted he took the money in '87. James still proclaims his innocence.

Criteria for players:
Each player nominated must have: (1) received major first-team All-America recognition; (2) played his last intercollegiate game at least 10 years previously; (3) retired from playing professional football; and (4) proven himself worthy as a citizen after his football career, carrying the ideals of football forward into his community.

SMU inductees:
Gerald "Little Red Arrow" Mann Southern Methodist Quarterback 1925-1927 1969
Don "Dandy Don" Meredith Southern Methodist Quarterback 1957-1959 1982
Kyle "The Mighty Mustang" Rote Southern Methodist Halfback 1948-1950 1964
Doak "The Doaker" Walker Southern Methodist Halfback 1945, 1947-1949 1959
Bobby Wilson Southern Methodist Halfback 1933-1935 1973
Jerry LeVias Southern Methodist Wide Receiver 1966-1968 2003
Hayden Fry Southern Methodist, North Texas State, Iowa Coach 1962-1998 2003
Jerry Rhome

Based on All-American status one wonders why guys like :
[deleted] Hightower
Louie Kelcher
John LaGrone
Emanual Tolbert (oh yeah, he doesn't make the worthy citzen part since he is in the Pen for raping little girls)
ED
Reggie Dupard
Russel Carter Harvey Armstrong
John Simmons

Didn't make the Hall.

If Jerry Stovall can make it, one would think Louie Kelcher at least could make it.
