Washington Post:

during those discussions among both Big 12 ADs and Presidents-PAC alternative was discussed and based upon that Colorado AD was lead to believe that PAC scenario was likely. OU AD also refers to informal discussions with PAC representative

Texas Hold 'Em. From Tulsaworld.

Someone at Texas, perhaps athletic director DeLoss Dodds, may have sent this message across the table to Nebraska and Missouri: "I'll see your two and raise you four, partners."

Dodd plays for keeps in all things. Loyalty to conference/history/tradition is a moot point to this man. I personally think he has the ethics/morals of a jackrabbit when it comes to 'fair play' given his own history involving NCAA enforcement, SWC implosion, ability to shield Texas from NCAA scandal et al. If A&M (or any other Big-12 partner) believes that there is a magic tie-in to follow the Longhorns to the next money sop, they risk being rudely awakened. Shifting conference alignments have no allies, just schools with similar/mutually beneficial interests.

That said, I wish SMU had a similar type of cut-throat in place back in 1994.

Texas will be brokering a major shift because of market/fan base in the coming shuffle...the only question is whether Longhorn fans make travel plans to Athens, Ga...Palo Alto...or Columbus, OH.
