I think the magic number is six. If you can put together a conference with six teams that played together, then you keep your autobid for two years. So, if for example you kept 5 out of 6 CUSA west plus Memphis, and added other schools, you would keep your autobid.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

CU should join Mountain West, not Pac-10

If the Big 10 and PAC 10 expand to 16 and Baylor gets invited west instead of Colorado, their ONLY option will be the MWC along with Kansas and K-State, which would seem to me a more attractive option for the MWC (than inviting Boise). Colorado would probably have a much better chance of competing against the MWC schools, but would they actually choose that option vs a new PAC 16?
