If the Big 12 is devestated...

Postby Samurai Stang » Wed Jun 09, 2010 8:00 pm

How long will it be until the MWC raids the leftovers, or the remaining Big 12 schools surround themselves with others in order to preserve what they can?

My mystical pachinko machine says within a week.

pray that Missouri gets shafted by Notre Dame-then you are talking about a real nucleus in Missouri, Iowa St, Kansas and K-State, along with Baylor-they might have some leverage then to act rather than react by tearing off a TCU, Utah and BYU. As long as the MWC is standing-it doesn't look good. Most of those might have some interest in retaining access to Texas.

MWC top will separate themselves from MWC bottom if possible. Poor SDSU, UNLV, etc. are going to get left out in the next airport meeting.

I don't see the Big XII leftovers wanting to make trips to Laramie, Boise, or other such thrilling places (well maybe Baylor because those towns are no worse than Waco). But Dallas and Houston certainly have a nice sound to them. And while Ft. Worth has a lot to offer, its still Ft. Worth and not Dallas as any marketing guru will tell you. The Cowboys are not the Metroplex Cowboys, or the Ft. Worth Cowboys but the Dallas Cowboys. The Stars and Mavericks are not the Metroplex Stars or Mavericks but the Dallas Stars and Mavericks. The Rangers are the Texas Rangers which burns the Astros fans to no end. Its going to be interesting to watch all of this. Right now, seeing Baylor twist in the wind without Ann Richards to protect them is pretty sweet. I suspect, Turner, Orsini, Jones and even Doh are burning up the phones.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
