Re: SMU #1 in conferenceI feel complete now
sar off.
Re: SMU #1 in conferenceWe should be thankful that the calculations for those standings do not include bball, men's and women's soccer. If they did I doubt we would finish very high in the rankings.
GO PONIES!!!
Re: SMU #1 in conferenceThe standings, of course, include all sports, but keep grinding that ax.
Re: SMU #1 in conference
Mea culpa- didn't read that article very closely. No axe to grind. Just want some of our sports programs back to their respectful past instead of the embarrassments they currently provide. GO PONIES!!!
Re: SMU #1 in conferenceWe've fallen behind TCU and Baylor!!!
Re: SMU #1 in conferenceWhat are our historical rankings since Turner took over? Anyone know where to find them?

Re: SMU #1 in conferenceVery nice there, great work by the "olympic" sports.
Re: SMU #1 in conferenceWe have been much higher in the past, but clearly our olympic sports and soccer have fallen off the cliff. Honestly, I think the trend started after Orsini took over. Copeland was incompetent in terms of revenue sports, but somehow all our non-revenue sports were outstanding throughout his tenure. Hopefully, we can continue to ascend in football and dare I say basketball and reclaim our place in all the other sports!
Re: SMU #1 in conferenceI don't have time right now to go through each one, but here's the link to the historical results:
http://www.nacda.com/directorscup/nacda-directorscup-previous-scoring.html and a couple quick results: First year of Turner 1995/1996: Ranked 15th. 2000/2001: Ranked 29th 2006/2007: Ranked 67th (still under Copeland here) Now: 74th. Looks like we have dropped under Turner. Looks like it can't be blamed on Orsini completely. "I think Couchem is right."

Re: SMU #1 in conferenceYeah this was a trend resulting from the Death Penalty, non-competitive admission policies and declining national visibility resulting from conference realignment. We never really appreciated or valued the importance of SWC membership.
