me too! ![]() ![]()
Re: 67 - 53 = WRONGJones said that UAB, ECU and UH had the best talent we would face in the conference. Add in TTU and TCU and there is a very real potential to be out manned in 5 games. That leaves a one game margin for a .500 season.
And we know last year MU definitely out manned us. Our team did win close games last year and there will be some larger and more experienced players. That said, cautious optimism it prudent for those that review us from a far.
Re: 67 - 53 = WRONGNevada gets only a C- on DBs ??!?
You have got to be kidding. ![]() Go Ponies!!
Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
Re: 67 - 53 = WRONG![]() Is this the face of a man who knows football? Really?? The problem with The Sporting News -- and has always been the case IMHO -- is that they rely too much on stats and not enough on watching games. If you just look at the yards allowed, it's not pretty. But I think our D made monster strides during throughout the season. If we can limit injuries and are able to jury rig another safety and a corner, they could be pretty damn good. I hate losing Kennemer too, but I have to wonder if Youri Yenga as a senior finally settling in at a position, Fleps being a senior and Davis and Reed having a year in the gym and in the system won't actually be an improvement. I'm also hoping (knock on wood) that the DL will be improved. "It's a couple hundred million dollars. I'm not losing sleep over it." -- David Miller
Re: 67 - 53 = WRONG
So Punch this guy at Sporting News says 6-6...what record do you expect? C-ya @ Milos!
Re: 67 - 53 = WRONGOh crap. I've been called out.
I'll make a pick, letting everyone know upfront that I really, really suck at this. I always get caught up in the hoopla at the beginning of the season and think we'll win more than we do. Especially going off last year, where we actually won a bunch of close games, and the ball bounced our way more often than not (for the first time). We could, very easily end up 6-6 or worse, especially if we lose to UAB in week 2. That could be a deep hole to dig out of at the start of the year. Like a lot of people, I think we lost a couple of guys to grades we couldn't afford to lose. I'll predict 7 Ws, though I'm really hoping for 8. Taking a more scientific approach, most of the polls have the Mustangs at #65 with 5 teams who we're playing ranked ahead of us. So that would also suggest 7-5. However, I really think this is our year to take the Midshipmen (sorry PK). Our jumbo DL, with a more experienced, bigger and faster LB corps will finally slow down their gimmick offense enough. So again, 8-4. "It's a couple hundred million dollars. I'm not losing sleep over it." -- David Miller
Re: 67 - 53 = WRONGHey...I have no problems with us taking out Navy...we are long over due to do that. I was an OCS officer, not an Academy officer. Now when Navy plays Army I'm 100% behind the Midshipmen.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
