How far or clear can a bank ATM camera capture? There was a crime incident, and my only hope on capturing the suspects license plate number is probably the ATM camera, the car must have passed by the camera. How far or clear is the banks ATM camera see?

Depends on the age and sightlines of the camera. Older cameras use fewer pixels because they are video cameras. Digital cameras have higher resolution and thus more pixels which could be enhanced. Converting from video to digital is a great expense for banks, and usually is phased in. Some cameras only activate during a transaction. Some stay active all the time. The sightlines mean a lot as well. A person in front of the camera will then yield only edge shots. Lighting, etc. have an impact as well. The interesting fact though is that there are more and more cameras out there including red-light cameras and traffic cameras. Sometimes combining shots, may lead to finding data. For example the bank camera may catch the color and make of the car, but not the plate. But 10 seconds later a car matching that color and make is caught by a shopping center camera nearby. And so on. Again, depends on the motivation of the cops to search out these facts and the length of the loop on the camera.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
