College player poll edition came out CUSA players picked houston to come in first with 80% of the vote and 20% picked SMU, with the rest in 3rd....hope this is a good perspective from current players.
Also had a photo of the players coming down the tunnel before the game...

There is also an article about finger signs the colleges in Texas use to represent their schools--funny the finger sign for ut isn't the one many of us know and have maybe used!!! JJ and Eric are shown w/the pony ears on p. 120. The write up about pony ears tells how they came to be.

The article tells how the pony ears started? I know quite a few people were wondering.

Yes, according to the short explanation, it says that cheerleader Roy Bailey introduced Pony Ears in the 70's. It says that when Varsity is played, students and players circle their pony ears around their heads for each year they've been in school. I know when my parents took us, as young girls, to games we didn't have pony ears. My oldest sister graduated in '77 and pony ears were around then. I started my freshman year in '77 and, of course, we had them then, but I didn't know about the circling around your head for each year in school.

ThY started in the early 2000s with the new stadium. We weren't doing it when I started in 97, and were when I left in 02

I'm pretty sure we had pony ears while I was at SMU--1977-1981. While I know we traveled by beer bus to the games, I don't think I was THAT drunk!!!

Pony Ears started in fall 1975 or 1974 when Roy Bailey was the "mike man". He was "Mike Man" his junior and senior year, and I can't remember if it started the first or second year. I'm thinking it was in 1974. It was in response to of course "guns up", "sic em", "gig em" and "hook em".
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

I know we didn't have them in 1973.
