C-USA watches fallout

One obvious target for C-USA would be TCU, a former league member that left for the MWC in 2005. With the potential addition of Fresno State and Nevada, TCU is now even more geographically isolated in its conference, and the potential loss of BYU decreases its strength in football.

Would TCU be interested in a return to C-USA? Johnson said he wouldn't rule it out.

"Several of their people have indicated at times they wish they were still in Conference USA," Johnson said.

Though it appears the MWC will survive for now, C-USA remains on alert. Earlier this year, college sports consultant Chuck Neinas was hired by C-USA to deal with expansion issues. Johnson said the news about BYU did not come as a total surprise Wednesday.

With the advent of bloggers and websites (not PonyFans of course), there's a lot of shlock journalism going around. It's really irritating when pubs make claims like this without citing any sources.

No, that claim was made by the famous Memphis A.D. R.C. "Everybody wants us for our airport" Johnson.

If they had such a great airport the former WAC 8, and most recently the MWC and Fresno State and Nevada would have met there instead of Denver
