USM opener dicey
USM doesn't play a pre-season Top 25 team, although I would argue this South Carolina team probably ought to be. Thursday night games at the Gamecocks' Williams-Brice Stadium are no fun. Ask Ole Miss. The Eagles get their other BCS foe, Kansas, at home. Conference-wise, USM gets preseason favorite Houston at home and doesn't have to play much-improved, June Jones-coached SMU. The Eagles do face both Central Florida and Tulsa in tough road games. The season-ender at Tulsa will be made harder, coming just six days after Houston.
