The band is NOT part of Meadows! It is under Student Affairs. Also, no band is allowed to play music while the football play is going on (i.e. breaking the huddle).

Actually you are correct that the band is under Student Affairs, while the band class is listed under Meadows...I believe the band used to be under Meadows a long while back. Thanks for the correction.

Even at numbers around 90, The Mustang Band should be louder than a tcu band at 200.

Seriously.

Athletic Department.

Review Picture Choice.

Yes, the band needs to be in the athletic department and not Meadows. I understand but look where the money came from.
Get Meadows to let go.

Meadows, save for a couple of years in the mid 90s, has not had any say in the administration of the band. They looked at it then and realized that cost clearly outweighed the benefit. Since then, it has been under the umbrella of Student Affairs. Student Affairs has done its best to take care of the band. The Athletic Department could care less.

I agree. Considering that a big chunk of that 200 is probably clarinets, flutes and flags, there's no reason they shouldn't be able to outblow them.

The band hasn't been in Meadows since the 40s and even then they rehearsed at McFarlin Auditorium. Student Affairs paid for the band/cheerleaders/pom squad to go to Hawaii. Special arrangements were made for Peruna. Ms. Pickens paid for the geldings to get to the game.

This.

The important thing to take from it is that the athletic department did NOT pay for the band to go to Hawaii. They don't care about the band at all.

I may be wrong, but I think the last big thing the AD did for the band was sending them to Houston for the Rice game when we were 6-5... and that might've been the football parents association, not the AD per se.

Take that with a grain of salt until confirmation rolls around

Parents of the players were instrumental in getting that together.

BUS,

Don't start talking when you don't know the facts!

M Band hasn't been in Music School since 1958.

AD Dept had M Band in early 80's AND GOT RID OF THE BAND DUE TO THE BUDGET DRAIN!

Since circa 82 the M Band had been in Student Affairs.
