That is as ridiculous as saying they are glad BYU is gone. TCU going to the MWC wasn't a mistake. They got into a BCS game and nearly got their conference invited to the dance. Even if the MWC ceases to exist, any mid-major conference will gladly take them now, and even a Big East invitation for them isn't as outlandish as it sounds. In what world is leaving C-USA to play against better competition a gamble? If the MWC wants to add Houston and SMU, we still go. Being in a conference with multiple Top 10 teams versus a conference with ZERO ranked teams? That doesn't even require ten seconds of thought. You accept that offer without question.

TCU would have gotten into a BCS game last year playing in C-USA. Under the current BCS rules, they would have gotten a BCS game in 2005, they year they beat OU and we beat them.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

After independence announcement it looks like BYU will pick up Hawai'i , 4 or move WAC FB games a year. http://www.staradvertiser.com/sports/sp ... z0yHxqJbBxGood move for Cougars and Notre Dame looks like a scheduling partner, as well. Their move looks good from a national brand perspective, whereas MWC was quite limiting, especially with Utah gone.

Maybe, but their ranking wouldn't have been as high playing in CUSA. Last year would have been close. But in 2005, a 1-loss CUSA team barely cracks the Top 25--and you need a win over a team like OU to even get that high.

When they changed the BCS formula, the BCS said in its press release that under the new rules, TCU would have qualified for a BCS bowl. It isn't a maybe. They would have.

Oh. That isn't what I meant. I thought you said if they were playing in CUSA in 2005. That is what I was saying wouldn't have happened. No way they get to 14 with a loss to SMU and playing a CUSA schedule vs a MWC schedule. (2005 there was also one less BCS bowl game. They hadn't added the National Championship game as a separate game yet, so there were 2 less spots open.)

With BYU gone, it's also just a matter of time until The MTN starts getting dropped across the country as well...

I'm not really familiar with how the whole cable-TV college football thing works. For the MTN. channel, would I be correct in assuming that it is only offered on cable in those markets where an MWC school is located? If that's true, would I then be correct in assuming that the MTN. just lost one of their biggest markets in SLC with the departure of UofU and BYU (since the MTN. is not carried in DFW)?

That is essentially correct. I believe the Mtn is also available as a premium add-on package on DirecTV.
