And Washington State isn't?
I agree that Wash St is that sort of game. But as I stated, we lost last year to Washington State. Beating UAB more convincingly is a big push, and at the end of the day the C-USA games mean more towards a this season's goa. However, in my opinion, from a national recruiting standpoint a win over a Pac-10 school that beat us last year (even if it's currently the worst program in that conference) "legitimizes" us slightly more.
too many injuries and offense looked sloppy definetly need to improve next week to have any chance against TCU. that being said great atmosphere at the stadium tonight and earlier on the BLVD.
Receivers are a huge problem. O-Line is giving Padron time, there is just no one open. We need to go get some JUCO receivers after the season. Bradley looks like Roy Williams out there.

Fields went out early after looking like he might rack up big yardage tonight; Frazier went down, was helped off and did not return. Sterling appears to have been the worst (dislocated knee?). The safety from Syracuse went down late; Kyle got dinged again.

Watch the game again...DJ and Beasley had space almost every play and when AR didn't give up, he was open.

True, WR separation wasn't the problem with the pass offense it was Padron's passes that held the unit back. On the replays you could see guys running open downfield, Padron just wasn't getting rid of the ball fast enough and when he did the throws were awful.
They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

1. you must of watched the expanded coverage online where you could see the entire field 2. watch this game and the tech game and count how many guys are dropping into coverage 3. did you count how many drops we had in the first half? i stopped at 6 4. BLM would have thrown it, are you saying you want him back? 5. ball security is never a bad thing, i'll take 0 ints every saturday after BLM

Chill pill...Love Padron and think he's going to be a great QB. Don't think anyone should throw the receivers under the bus though. They did their job and (per the run and shoot) there was someone open on almost every play. I'm not complaining, just sticking up for guys who played a great game.

Most of us will say we're extremely happy to have back there as opposed to BLM....but you can't deny he hasn't had the greatest two weeks when it comes to throwing the ball.
There were several dropped balls but there was also several over and under throws. Thankfully he realized just how much time he had back there and decided to run it quite a few times. Now if he had just done that on the first drive when it was 4th and 2, maybe this one could've been put away earlier

i was expecting a roundhouse to my post but i guess this will do... as for the wr's, AR played better then he did in the tech game... BEasley is not having the impact he should. As per the R-n-S, the wr's make a read based on the defense. If they run the wrong route (see the tipped TD against Tech, beasely should have cut underneath the safety but went over top) then Padron holds the ball longer then he should... see the 2:07 mark, 2:47 mark, 3:15 mark, 4:53 mark, etc. its a matter of Padron and the WR being on the same page on their reads
I think Padron is pressing too much (hence all of the running plays), but the wr's have not been making plays when the ball is on target. its clear that the wr's and the QB are not on the same page like they should be, but also notice the difference in the run after catch by the wr's @ hawaii (or look back to ES)
EDIT: if you are a coach from an opposing team reading your competitions message boards, please disregard any info regarding our current offensive scheme. please also avoid youtube and search functions such as google.com to gain a better understanding on our scheme. However, if you are interested in obtaining such information, you can pay $10 to attend a lunch in which our head coach will breakdown the super top secret offense that we run. thanks.

figured i would also throw this in for good measure
Quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell completed 16-of-27 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns, but had an interception returned 66 yards for a touchdown by the Wildcats.
Padron didn't need a great night. UAB begged us to run and we did. There was some very solid coverage by UAB. The tradeoff was it weakened UAB to the run. Give JJ credit for recognizing the UAB defense and exploiting it.
Good win. Amazing that I've been to nearly every single SMU game at Ford since it was built and tonight was the first time I have ever sat on the SMU side. I've always been either in the student section or a couple sections over in 124 with my parents in their season ticket seats.
Also, it may have already been mentioned in this thread, but it pissed me off when there was some stupid American Airlines ad playing on the loudspeakers during Varsity. It shut off about half way through, but that was pretty lame.
