Re: MEDICAL "REDSHIRT" RULESsi
and everyone else injured for that matter... my initial thought was sterling, but we all know how hard he worked to get back on the field last year, so this is HOPEFULLY a non-issue for him WEST DIVISION CHAMPS 2010

Re: MEDICAL "REDSHIRT" RULESonce you dislocate a patella, you have a propensity for it to happen again. and again. and again. Sucks.
Re: MEDICAL "REDSHIRT" RULESIn post-game radio interview, Coach Jones said the report is that the knee is "stable" but that there is "another issue" of concern to the medical staff involving the injury. Not sure exactly what that means; hope for the best.

The information from the Texas A%M web site is dated. Here are the Medical Redshirt Rules from the 2010-2011 NCAA Division I Manual taken from Article 14 Eligibility: Academic and General Requirements and sub paragraph 14.2.4 (c) which states: In team sports, the injury or illness occurs when the student-athlete has not participated in more than three contests or dates of competition (whichever is applicable to that sport) or 30 percent (whichever number is greater) of the institution’s scheduled or completed contests or dates of competition in his or her sport. Here's the link to the entire NCAA document: http://www.ncaapublications.com/product ... s/D111.pdf
Re: MEDICAL "REDSHIRT" RULESThanks for the link. Does anyone know how Jordan Shipley had 6 years at Texas? Was it due to two medical redshirt years extra or one medical redshirt and one redshirt in addition to the four years of eligibility?
