The first article talks about their last second heroics to beat Wake Forest this Saturday. Sounds like something that would happen to SMU, multiple 3rd and long conversions for Navy:
Dobbs calmly directed a remarkable 10-play, 64-yard march that culminated with a 6-yard pass to wide receiver Greg Jones with 26 seconds left and kicker Joe Buckley booted the extra point to give Navy a thrilling 28-27 victory over Wake Forest, shocking a Homecoming crowd of 31,454 at BB&T Field. “It felt good to finally put everything together at the end and win a close game like this,†Dobbs said. “Everything was working on that last drive and we had a lot of people make plays.â€
Navy took over at its own 36-yard line with 2:08 remaining and needing a touchdown to erase a 27-21 deficit.
This article was written before last weeks games highlighting the team's struggles:
This season, Dobbs has gained 217 yards and scored just three touchdowns on a team-high 91 carries through four games. Dobbs is averaging a mere 2.4 yards per carry.
Navy ranks 118th nationally with a .579 scoring rate in the red zone. The Midshipmen have managed just seven touchdowns on 19 trips inside the opponent's 20-yard line and the tried-and-true play on which Dobbs fakes to the fullback then follows him into the hole simply has not worked.
Dobbs has carried on 22 of 30 plays inside the 10 and averaged just 1.54 yards. He has fumbled as many times (three) as he's scored touchdowns.
